We had a weekend of parties. It started off with the Smith & Jones party where we hopped into a stretch hummer and headed into boston. Where we enjoyed the show mobfather in little italy. Then for a night cap we headed to the top of the prudential building for martini's. What a blast!

The following evening we spend with the Kalido group at the commonwealth hotel. Where we stayed as well

Very Busy Fall

Both Bill and I have made some career changes that have been very good and we are both happy with our new position.

I recently changed company's to Smith & Jones a Marketing and Advertising company that has allowed me to do what I went to school for. My title is Production/Traffic Manager which means I prep all files going out to vendors as well as clients. On to of that The traffic part of my job is to make sure that projects are getting through the necessary departments to be delivered on time. Last week we participated in the Creatathon where Ad agencies donate 24 hours of their time for pro-bono projects. Which meant we did our normal work starting at 8:30 on Thursday until 12pm and then started 24 hours around the clock doing charity work. We presented at 8:30 in the morning and the clients had until 12pm Friday to make changes. I haven't been up that many hours in a row since finals in college. We did have a lot of fun but check out our blog to see how lovely one looks after staring at a computer for 36 consecutive hours.

While our backyard was looking fantastic our front yard...not so much. We were waiting to see what was going to come up and what we could pull out, besides all the weeds. So that was Saturdays project we pulled weeds and added new mulch as well as a boarder of flowers.

It has been really nice watching our garden bloom. Everyday there is something new and to my surprise the old owner of our house liked purple too.

The roses that have yet to still bloom. They are going to be great. We wanted to paint the neighbors garage before the rose bush took over but almost every weekend was rainy and we didn't get to it. Maybe next year.

Homeownership in all it's glory

At the beginning of last week it had rained alot for nearly a week and with that comes...water in the basement. We had a river running through it and spent the morning wet vacuuming it and dumping it in the street. It has almost dried up thanks to the few days of relief from the rain.

Last weekend was bueatiful out and we bought ourselves an outdoor weather resistant couch that rocks. We cleaned up the existing garden that we are watching bloom different things daily and planted flowers for the front porch.

On monday it was nearly 90 degrees and I went upstairs to open some windows in the bedroom to find that there was a bee hive in between the window and the storm window. I think little ms. stella may have gotten stung before I noticed. We also have a non-stop running toilet that we have now fixed.

But the most eventful thing happened last night while I was watching tv downstairs and Bill was getting ready for bed. Sidney let out a howl like never before in fact I thought it was Bill imitating him. But no Sid came galloping into the living room with a unidentified "toy" in his mouth, that just so happened to have a tail, a real tail. Yes my big boy caught his first mouse in his 7 years on this earth and here I thought he couldn't make it on the streets. We have now told Stella she better step up her game because the score is Sid-1 Stella-0.

It has been a bit crazy with the house the past few weeks and my birthday. My whole family flew out to surprise me for the big 30. It was the best birthday ever. Plus my mom stayed a few extra days and really shaped up the house. She washed window rearrange and arranged the house to make it more livable. She was the biggest help getting us settled. We did alot of shopping while she was here and spoiled us to death.

We spent this last weekend putting together a couple of tables, hanging curtains (we only have the study left to do) and putting up pictures to make our special touch.

Large Move

Well, we have successfully moved all of our large stuff into the house. The spare bedroom has it's second coat of paint and a sleepable bed (the only one in the house thus far). Today we patch the remaining hole in the bathroom and put our bed together and the unpacking begins. The cats are ready to move so we are packing up the car with a bunch of pictures, our bath supplies and the cats and heading over. We still have a bunch of stuff that we will be picking up at the townhouse and bring to the new house daily after work. Once we get alittle more settled and get our internet working I will be posting pictures like a mad woman. Have a nice move free day please enjoy it for us.

Today the asbestos removal guys were at the house and everything has been removed and we got a clean bill of air. In the time they were at the house I managed to get the first coat on the spare bedroom and the first coat in the bathroom. Things are really shaping up. Stay tuned for photos.

Weekend Warriors without the Staff

Saturday we packed up our car full of boxes and Chris our neighbors Jeep and headed over to the house to get it done. The paint in the master bedroom went up way better than it had on Wednesday and I just have one more coat left, the color looks great witht the wood. We got the rest of the bathroom demoed, dry walled and cleaned up. Today we fill the thousands of holes in the guest bedroom, put the final coat on our bedroom and hopefully get to put the first coat in the guest bedroom. So off to work we go.

Homeowners Officially

We closed on our house on Wednesday and it was actually pretty smooth. Except the junk the previous owner "thought we might want" but we got that taken care of. Imediately after the closing we put on our work clothes and started demo on the upstairs bathroom. Lucky for us we got the horrible mirror and light out before the junk people came so we were able to add that to the previous owners junk. We are about half done with the bathroom and we will be showing you all the progress we are making. So stay tuned to watch our house become our house.

My Long Lost Cousin

This is a picture of my cousin and me at the airport in Minnesota. On our flight to Minnesota for the holiday's we had a quick layover in Chicago and this man sits down in the seat in front of Bill. I say to Bill "I think that is my cousin" well of course he thought I was crazy. I waited for the beverage cart to come by so the gentlman in front of me would take off his earphones. That is when I made my approach "excuse me is your last name Pederson?" The man was shocked and said "yes," "Well, I am your cousin!" I haven't seen Luke in almost twenty years but the resemblence to my father from the side angle was exactly the same. We got caught up and talked the whole entire flight!

New House

It has been a very exciting year for us. We moved cross country, started new jobs, got married, bought a new car and the newest-a new house. We have spent the last 2 months hunting through different neighborhoods and we finally found one. Our inspection was today and it went real well.

We went on a tubing tour which lead us through an old sugar plantation aggregation system through a ton of long, dark and scary caves. It was awesome we got to wear hard hats with lights attached. After our adventure we stopped at the above spot and had a nice lunch and tried to find prawns swimming in the water. Good old eagle eye (Jessica) spotted a toad, like the one below in a tiny whole in the dirt and of course was the only one to spot a prawn that we were unable to catch.

This was our view from our hotel just 50 feet from the ocean. What a great sound to fall asleep to at night but the crashing of the waves.
Then we went off site seeing in the backround you can see a famous waterfall.

Of course we met a cat that looks like our cat Stella but we thought she was pregnant but no she was just fat.

We went to the Home and Garden show yesterday in hopes of Fall inspiration for the wedding. There was definately more Home then there was Garden. There were some neat things to remember when we have our own home but wasn't much use to us now. I was hoping that there would be some neat flowers that I could take note of for the wedding but there wasn't. I am glad we had free tickets and a great brunch before hand.

It's Official

We both were able to look at our wedding destination and have agreed that this is the place to hold our big day. We are just waiting for the contract to come in the mail to sign it, yet it is already ours. How exciting we got the biggest thing out of the way hopefully the rest of the planning will be this easy.

Today Jessica and her mother went looking for site for the wedding and were lucky enough to find the perfect spot on our first day looking. The University Club of Minnesota on Summit Avenue will be a great place for a wedding.

This will be the room that we get married in, right in front of the fire place. We will also have the dance in this room too.

After the wedding takes place we will ajorn to the terrace for cocktail and a great view of the river.

Jessica won tickets to a bridal show that she was thinking about going to but had forgotten until she was listening to 107.1 the Lori and Julia show. They were giving away 2 tickets to the first few callers. She decided to take her chances and won! Obviously, this is the reason why work kept her late on her last full time day on the job.

Since, Jessica has been offered a new position at a company more in her field she has decided to take one day in between jobs. On this day she and her mother will be pounding the pavement looking for the ideal place for the wedding and the reception. The goal is to find a mansion big enough to house our guests for both the wedding and the reception. Wish us luck on your big hunt.

How do you get so good?

We went to look at the lovely rubies as well as the sketch and rings that will be developed especially for this ring setting. The rubies are gorgeous and there are going to be 12 of them all together totaling 1.45cts and set in platinum. But was is disapointing is that I will have to go without my ring for a whole week and then another week right before the wedding. It will be a great surprise waiting to see what it looks like until we are standing at the alter. How am I ever going to make it a whole year in suspense?

Today, Jessica gets to go pick between the two batches of rubies that Bill already narrowed down for her wedding bands. Yes, she gets 2 bands with 4 rubies on each one. The best part of all this is that Bill picked it all out, because he is just that good.

We finally went to the calendar last night and decided to go with October 13th, 2006 (Sorry all that had visited and I got your hopes up that it was in 2005 but its not). Yes you heard us right Friday the 13th! That way we have a whole year to plan and we will have a beautiful fall wedding. We will keep you posted.

Engagement

Yesterday evening the 25th of August Bill proposed to Jessica. He made a great dinner starting with fresh lox, then for the main course cornish game hens stuffed with garlic, green beans with spicy pumpkins seeds and super creamy mashed potato. For desert he served Jessica a purple package and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

1 year anniversary

Saturday was our one year anniversary so we decided to go have fondue downtown. We had reservations for 8:30 but decided to get all dressed up and do happy hour before hand since neither of us spend much time downtown anymore. It was a beautiful evening we had mussels and wine at Zelo's and then headed off to the Local. We had to celibrate with a Guiness in an Irish pub since this is where the whole thing started 1 year ago.

It was finally time for dinner and boy were we excited. We decided to go with the sea food and it was a great choice. We had great service that made the evening absolutely wonderful.

Ok, right now it is only Jess' story, because Bill doesn't know that I am writing this, but alas I am. This blog will document from here on out our journey to become Mr. & Mrs. William Joseph Mahoney III. The engagement is becoming closer, the ring is in the making, his parents have heard the news and just last evening he asked the brides father for the thumbs up.

I am sure that my father said "yes, please, take her"! I think he has been waiting for this moment longer then I have.
